Beginners' Guitar Lessons in Teddington

It does not matter what age you are or whether you have played in instrument before or not.

When starting to learn an instrument it is essential that lessons are immediately fulfilling and fun. This way morale is kept high, practice is fun and progress is made steadily.

If you want to learn popular music, my beginners' lessons will cover basic technique of playing chords whilst simultaneously learning well known songs that use these chords. With each new chord we learn a new song will be added to your repertoire. We will also cover the fundamentals of rhythms to bring the songs to life.

Many people struggle to play even the most basic chords through a fundamental flaw in technique. You will learn the best possible way to position your fingers, hands and arms, as well as the reasons for it. This is absolutely key to getting a good start in learning guitar and failure to learn good basic technique is often the main reason for learners thinking it is 'too hard' and sadly giving up.

Alongside this we will build your repertoire of well known riffs, and begin to learn blues playing and soloing.

If you are interested in classical music we will cover the basics of reading music, which anybody can learn, and where the notes are on the guitar neck. Alongside this we shall gradually build your repertoire to put into practice each of the notes you learn as well as covering the essential techniques along the way.

Guitar lessons take place at my home in Teddington, London or via Zoom.
