Shema is an internationally acclaimed UK based professional Middle Eastern Dance Artist, Musician and Writer, in demand all over the world for her dynamic and authentic performances and exceptional teaching skills.

"Delicately lovely", Shema is renowned for her elegant and feminine styling with a powerful yet sensitive approach to Middle Eastern dance. Always interested in the history and development of this art form, Shema specialises in presenting Egyptian Bellydance, as well as traditional Folk dances from the Middle Eastern and Arabic World and exploring how they have influenced modern styles.
These include Tannoura (Egyptian Whirling), Sai'idi (Northern Egypt), Khaleegy (Gulf region), Iraqi Kawleeya and Raqs al Hecha3, Egyptian Baladi, and Moroccan Tanjaoua Sha'abi as well as props such as veil, daggers, and sword.
Performances
Shema is available for all events: including at corporate events, private parties, weddings, shows, community festivals, ME dance festivals and more. She is a lively and mesmerizing addition to any event and will tailor her performance to suit your needs.

Shema maintains an integrity within the dance - her authenticity, musical interpretation and approachability make her a sought after artist and teacher and she is passionate about encouraging students and other professionals to share in her absolute love and devotion to this dance.
Over the course of a 20-year career, Shema has travelled across the world to teach, perform, and study. Her experience includes being a member of Arabesque Dance Company in Canada, leading dance tours in Morocco, teaching and performing at major dance events in the UK, US, Norway and Jersey, presenting research at dance conferences in the US and Canada, and dancing live with musicians for two years in Egypt whilst living and learning within a Bedouin community.
