I am a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate. I have been studying the art for 22 years and have taught for about half of that time. I am certified to teach and coach by the Karate Union of Great Britain and have CRB clearance. I am available to private lessons and groups classes by arrangment. I have a strong background in working with young people, having been a professional youth worker for a number of years and I am particularly interested in sports development. However, I love to teach and train with people of all ages and abilities. I do not have my own dojo but will come to wherever you are: schools, gyms, social groups, etc. You don't have to be an ace athlete to practice martial arts, you just need to be willing to start where you are, which is anywhere really.

Experience

Martial Arts Training

I have been studying, practising and teaching the art of Shotokan karate-do for over 23 years now. I am a 2nd Dan (Nidan) black belt and have a level 2 coaching certificate. I am registered with Karate Union of Great Britain and the Japan Karate Association. My study of karate has taken me to many places, most notibly, the United States, where I trained for a few years with Sensei Nina Chenault (5th Dan) and Sensei Robert Fusaro (7th Dan) ITKF. I am currently based in Lancaster, England and teach at a number of venues and clubs. I have a professional background in youth work and not surprisingly, my focus is on providing good quality instruction and coaching to young people, incorporating my interest in youth development and life long wellness.
