DSA Approved Driving Instructor
After completing my University studies in 2005 and took the decision to train to become a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor (ADI). This was done part-time whilst working full time as a Graphic Designer. To qualify as an ADI you must pass three tests, a theory and a practical test, and then finally the test of your ability to teach.
I am a fully qualified ADI and have also passed a Criminal Records Check.
Every ADI must teach at a very high level, and prove to the DSA on a regular basis that they can maintain this standard, to do this we must complete a “Test of continued ability and fitness to give instruction”, known in the business as the Check Test. The driving instructor is graded depending on their abilities on a scale of Grade 1 to Grade 6, Grade 6 being the highest grade obtainable. In June 2010 I sat my most recent Check Test and received an overall Grade 5 having only just missed out on a Grade 6 on a few of the modules that we are marked on. This result continues to help me strive to be the best driving instructor I can be and aim for that elusive and rare Grade 6 on my next Check Test.
