The Shift
In 2002, Ayamanatara wrote a book (now out of print) called The Shift, which talked about the coming changes and how best to handle them. Since then, more information has come to light. Join us for a one day experiential workshop on working with the changing energies. Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring drinking water and protein-based snacks.
Working With Stones for Health and Well Being
Crystals are a great way to enhance your life, your spiritual practice, and your personal growth; they can even enhance your health! In this three-week course, we will be looking at stones to help enhance your emotional well being, using stones to become more effective in your life, and which stones to use to assist in healing common health concerns.
Free Lecture - Working with Stones
Ayamanatara will be giving an overview of how to use crystals to enhance your health and well-being. This is the introduction to a three-week class, to be offered in October.
Weekly Meditation Experience
In addition to helping your spiritual growth, meditation has been shown to have significant emotional and physiological benefits:
*Meditation decreases oxygen consumption, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure. (Herbert Benson, M.D. Harvard Medical School, author of The Relaxation Response)
*Meditators were less anxious and neurotic, more spontaneous, independent, self-confident, empathetic, and less fearful of death. (Atlantic Monthly, May, 1991)
*75% of long-term insomniacs who have been trained in relaxation and meditation can fall asleep within 20 minutes of going to bed. (Dr. Gregg Jacobs, Psychologist, Harvard)
*A study showed that plasma cortisol, a stress hormone, decreased during meditation, whereas it did not change significantly in controlled subjects during ordinary relaxation. (Hormones and Behavior, 1978)
*Women with severe PMS showed a 58% improvement in their symptoms after five months of daily meditation. (Health, September, 1995)
*Meditators over 6-9 months showed a marked decrease in the thickness of their artery walls, while non-meditators actually showed an increase. This change translates to about an 11% decrease in the risk of heart attack and an 8% to 15% decrease in the risk of stroke. (Stroke Journal, reported in Psychology Today, 2001)
*Meditation may slow aging. A study found that people who had been meditating for more than five years were physiologically 12 to 15 years younger than non-meditators. (International Journal of Neuroscience, 1982)
The two biggest challenges that most people face with meditation is finding the time and not being sure if they're doing it "right." A scheduled meditation in a group setting addresses both of those blocks! Come join us for a weekly meditation group. We will be doing several different forms and styles of meditation, each with a different focus, and each practice will be followed by a short discussion about the challenges and successes we experience in meditation.
