I have been teaching since 2013 in both schools and privately

I have an MMus in Performance and Pedagogy (Teaching) from Birmingham Conservatoire and previous to this I studied at Leeds College of Music and I lead the Leeds College of Music community Symphony Orchestra. I also play in a family based Violin Trio who play at parties and weddings etc. I offer lessons on Violin, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Piano and Music Theory to pupils of all ages and abilities from beginner up to Grade 8.

I am a classically trained musician, but have skills and an interest in popular, folk and especially musical theatre, as i have played in many pit bands. I am willing to teach pupils who wish to take graded examinations, and those who want to just learn for fun.

I can teach one-to-one instrumental lessons, and try to create a fun atmosphere for everyone! I like to incorporate aural training into each lesson as I believe it is a very important part of being a musician.

Experience

Community Music Project - Time to Shine

I was the joint-leader of a Community Music Project at Ralph Thoresby High School in Leeds. During the project I ran an after-school club with pupils aged 11-14 years to create a performance of 'Songs from the Shows' with singers and instrumentalists. Most of the students had never performed a solo or been a central part of a production and the project gave them the opportunity to improve their confidence, performance skills, ensemble skills, and technical abilities.

I taught singing and instrumental techniques during the project using my conducting skills, voice and violin. The project resulted in a filmed performance of 'So Long, Farewell' (The Sound of Music) and 'Stick to the Status Quo' (High School Musical), with a singing group and soloists accompanied by a small band.
