Colleen Prior
I am a post-graduate student at CUA looking to teach tap, jazz, ballroom and Latin dancing on a part-time basis for either individuals, couples, or groups of students. I have been studying dance for 17 years, and teaching for 9. In my hometown of Miami, I taught tap and jazz dance for my university while still a student. Upon graduating, I began teaching Latin and Ballroom at a local studio, and worked as a choreographer for a musical theater company. I also choreographed music videos and television spots for Telefutura, a local TV network. I then continued to teach ballroom, tap, ballet and Musical Theatre styles of dance for the Musical Theatre Society at University College London while attending graduate school. I have experience teaching both adults and children. I do not have access to my own dance studio, so students are required to have a location ready in which I can teach them (dance studios are wonderful, but large living rooms or basements will also work!) I will provide music and a portable sound system for any style of dance. I am available for regular long-term teaching or tutouring for specific events (such as learning basic ballroom styles for an upcoming social dancing event). I also am available to choreograph pieces for performance, such as wedding dances or recital pieces.
