Daniel Finlay - BA (Hons), PGCE
Daniel is an Acting Coach and Teacher as well as a Theatre Director.
Daniel started work backstage in the West End and gained his degree in Visual and Performing Arts in 1987 from the University of Brighton. Since then he has worked extensively as an actor. His stage work includes: the UK tour of Beyond Reasonable Doubt, Giorgio Joyce in Simples of the Moon at the Lyric, and Dr Harry Trench opposite Lisa Harrow in Widowers' Houses. Film and TV credits include: In the Secret State, The Bill, Sherlock Holmes, London's Burning, What's the Capital of Madagascar? and Trip.
Daniel has directed many productions on the London and Brighton Fringe, and was an associate producer of Tandem Theatre, whose critically acclaimed productions, including Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, PVT Wars and The Games Rule, have been performed in London, Edinburgh and on tour. He has directed over 15 full scale student productions as well as showcase scenes for ACT in London and Brighton. Currently he is an Artistic Director of The Brighton Theatre Collective.
A seasoned workshop leader, Daniel has coached performers in both the private and corporate sectors. He designed and leads the ACT 2 Week Workshop – more than 100 to date for over 1,200 work-shoppers.
Presently Daniel is Head of Acting at the Academy of Creative Training, Brighton. He was Head of Performing Arts and Media at City College Brighton and Hove for 6 years. He has previously taught at Eastbourne College of Art and Technology and The Swedish Folk High School amongst others.

Group Classes
Two Week Workshop
Our Two Week Intensive Acting Workshop runs each month and is designed to introduce students to the basic principles and activities involved in an Actor Training. It is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those students wishing to build upon previous performance experience.
The workshop runs from Tuesday to Friday evening, from 7pm - 10pm for 2 consecutive weeks and incorporates 16 x 1.5 hour classes in Voice, Movement, Acting Technique, Improvising & Devising and Enhancing Creativity. Two classes are taught each evening.
Upon completion of the Workshop, each tutor submits a written evaluation of every student's potential in their discipline and students may then attend an individual feedback session and interview with the Principal. This workshop costs £60 in total.
