I am a professional mandolin player, teacher and workshop leader working in Bristol, UK. I teach one to one from my studio at home and run a mandolin ensemble once a fortnight in Bristol. I have taught latin and blues courses for the BMG Summer School and 'Come and try the mandolin' courses at the Bristol Folk House.

Group Classes

Bristol Mandolin Ensemble

The class meets fortnightly during term times and is for players of all abilities. Parts are available so everyone can play at their level. The focus is on having fun while learning and enjoying playing music with other players. Some tuition and exercises are included but not the main purpose. Ability to read music is essential.

Lessons can be once a week though most students choose once a fortnight payable on the day of the lesson. A weeks notice of cancellation is normally required. Last minute cancellations are charged at full fee unless due to illness.

On Sat 18th October in Bristol, Frances Taylor will be teaching a workshop for mandolin players. Entry level will be around grade 3. This fascinating workshop will look at Baroque music for mandolin, style and interpretation. Frances has described Baroque as the Rock and Roll of the 17th Century.
