Just Do It Guides was formed in 2007, with the sole aim of helping the many people who are confused & dismayed by the IT Industry’s reluctance to give up it’s technical jargon when communicating with its customers.
Dave Roberts and Dave Murdoch front the drive of the company. Most of their working careers have been spent in IT in support roles in Blue Chip companies helping computer users to learn and gain confidence in technology by adopting a fresh approach.
Whilst working in IT they learnt a new language, which moved at a great pace. It was their job to relay this jargon to people who just wanted to do a job, without the complex terms and having to understand how the technology worked. They decided to use plain English, excluding the un-necessary jargon and found it was appreciated and people learnt quickly and were able to master complex tasks.
After being made redundant they decided to try to bring this approach to a personal level and they embarked on a major project to produce an easy to follow guide you watch and learn on a TV, in the form of a 6 hour DVD set called Everyday Home Computing. An off shoot of this was the Computer Beginners website which currently offers over 150 free lessons on a variety of topics from Microsoft Excel and Word to Twitter and Facebook. We actively encourage users of the website to offer comments and suggest new lessons. Skype being the latest lessons that was created due to popular demand.
