Emily Baines
Experienced, friendly Recorder Teacher currently looking to take on some new students into my private practice.
I am based in North London and generally teach in Tottenham but am prepared to travel where necessary. I am flexible time-wise and although I usually teach at weekends currently, I am also available during the day and some evenings.
So here's a bit about me
I am a Recorder player and Singer (soprano). I studied at University of Hull, The Royal Conservatiore - The Hague and Guildhall School of Music and Drama where I gained my MMus with Distinction. I then followed this with 2 years as a Fellow at the GSMD and am now teaching there as part of their Postgraduate Historical Performance course. I also teach for Newham Music Trust where I teach recorder players of many standards (currently beginner to post grade 8) and also First Steps in Musicianship (for 3-5year olds). I am also Musical Director of the North London Branch of the Society of Recorder Players. I am also an active performer and can be regularly heard around london, the UK and beyond playing/singing with many different ensembles. These include The Musicians of London Wall, The Fellowshippe of Musickers and S3NSUS recorder consort, which I co-founded. Also L'Avventura London, Ensemble Tempus Fugit and The London Handel Collection among others.
Generally my rates are £35 p/h (excluding travel costs) but I am flexible on lesson length/regularity and I am also available for group lessons and/or ensemble coaching sessions for players of any standard.
