Eunice Laurel
Born in the Philippines and bred in Australia, Eunice has been teaching in London since 2005. She is a dedicated yoga practitioner and student, having studied and trained under teachers such as the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, his grandson Sharath Rangaswamy, Richard Freeman and David Swenson.
Eunice is accredited to teach yoga through the British Wheel of Yoga and the Yoga Alliance, and is also certified to teach children. Eunice is also a Yoga Therapist with an interest in post conflict rehabilitation. In late 2008, she spent four months in Rwanda teaching yoga to HIV positive women and children, many stiff suffering from the physical and mental scarring of the genocide in 1994. Eunice is dedicated to practicing yoga in all its strands - especially that of karma yoga (service) – and is interested in how yoga can be used as a tool to help individual needs.
Although Eunice teaches the Astanga yoga method (as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois), she is influenced by Buddhist philosophy, and in her classes also draws on wisdom from teachers of various traditions and disciplines – from Bob Marley, to H.H. the Dalai Lama, St. Frances of Assisi to her Mum!
A passionate student of yoga, she is dedicated to continuing her own studies and understanding of yoga. Her intention to teach is to not only encourage a physical transformation, but to also inspire inner reflection to help the individual develop a practice that is conscious, kind, mindful and meaningful.
