Gloucestershire Morris Men

The Gloucestershire Morris Men specialise in Cotswold Morris dances, especially those collected in the county of Gloucestershire. We offer free tuition and practise most Tuesdays from September to March at Chosen Hill School, Churchdown, Gloucestershire. We are very keen to pass on our skills to a younger generation and to this end are organising a series of workshops - one at the Cheltenham Folk Festival on 15th February 2009 and one at the YMCA Cheltenham on Saturday 28th February.

Those joining the Gloucestershire Morris Men can be assured of the pleasure of learning a new skill, keeping fit, helping to preserve an old English tradition, coupled with good companionship, music and song, interesting bookings, foreign travel and so on.

We are an all-male side, but our workshops are open to both men and women. Depending on the interest shown, following the workshop at the end of February a new, associate side may be formed for both men and/or women. Otherwise, if there are insufficient numbers to support such a new side, women wishing to take up Morris could consider joining one of the excellent local women's Morris sides.
