Born Bedford, England. Studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, AGSM and opera courses. Teachers include Johanna Peters, Brigitte Fassbaender, Claudio Desderi, Elizabeth Glauser, and Dame Anne Evans
Regular concert and oratorio performances, including an evening of Britten’s theatre music at the Aldeburgh Festival, Honegger’s King David in Croydon, Haydn’s Nelson Mass, Zena in Katya Kabanova, at the Royal Albert Hall, Pastuchyna in Jenufa with the L.P.O at the Festival Hall, Concerts at the Brighton Festival and appeared in the German TV film Revolution for ZDF Munich.For Glyndebourne Festival Opera played and covered a wide range of parts, including the lead role of Anna in Nigel Osbourne’s The Electrification of the Soviet Union directed by Peter Sellers; the Mother and White Cat in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortileges, directed by Frank Corsaro; Adelaide in Richard Strauss’s Arabella, directed by John Cox; Second Lady in Die Zauberflote directed by Peter Sellers; Flora in La Traviata and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, both directed by Peter Hall,the German Mother in Death in Venice directed by Stephen Lawless and conducted by Graeme Jenkins for the Glyndebourne Touring Opera and the BBC film and DVD/Video of the opera; Second Slave in Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail directed by Peter Woods; Zena in Katja Kabanova directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff, conducted by Andrew Davis; Pastuchyna in Jenufa directed by Nikolas Lehnhoff and conducted by Andrew Davis, for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and for the TV film and DVD/video.
Other Operatic Roles performed: Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro; Berta in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia; Orlovsky in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus; Rosina in Scarlatti’s Il Trionfo dell’Onore; Clori in Cavalli’s L’Egisto; Second Boy in Die Zauberflote in a six month tour of England and also for the festivals in Bath, Dijon and Sully sur Loire; Ludmilla in Prodana Nevesta by Smetana for Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg and Mulhouse.
Helen also has a thriving teaching practice in Central London and Sussex, teaching one-to-one sessions, groups and running regular workshops and consultancies around Great Britain. Many people come from abroad to study with her from as far afield as Mexico, Israel, Greece and Australia. She is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network, blending traditional singing teaching with a more holistic approach. Helen teaches a wide range of performers from pop, rock, jazz, actors and classical singers.
Helen was a judge for South Coast Idol-Live and Unsigned pop- competitions and is a regular broadcaster on both TV and Radio.
