Spanish saxophonist Jose Bernardez, in technique and sensibility, harkens back to the Golden Age of 20th century, while possessing the passion and energy of the 21st century. Lauded by both critics and audiences as a performer of great depth, virtuosity and technical brilliance, he has appeared throughout the United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Switzerland as a soloist and in Quartet, Ensemble, Big Band or Orchestral settings.
Early in his career Jose Bernardez enjoyed the encouragement and support of great masters such as Claude Delangle or Marie Bernadette Charrier and later in his career, Mr. Bernardez received the 2002 Hazen Intercentros Music Award (Honour Mention), the 2006 Art Jove Chamber Music Award and The prestigious 2006 Monserrat Alavedra Performance Award.
ose Bernardez appears regularly in London Shows and with major orchestras such as London Philharmonia Orchestra, London Contemporany Orchestra, Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, Azalea Ensemble, Manson Ensemble or London Sinfonietta, among others, collaborating with worlds most prominent conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, Neeme Järvi, Paavo Järvi, Yan Pascal Tortellier or Peter Maxwell Davies. He has also performed at important festivals such as Musica Riva Festival, the Schwetzinger Festspiele or the Geneve Music Festival.
Born in the North West of Spain on 1981, Jose began to study saxophone at the age of seventeen at the Galician High School of Music (IGAEM), moving in 1999 to Madrid Conservatorie and finishing his studies at the pestigious Royal Academy of Music in London, where he graduated with honours in 2009.
