Carlito do Estacio and Katherine dos Santos Fernandes run Boudica School of Samba and are available for booking themed parties, shows or Carnivals with their Samba percussion Bateria, as well as with an accoustic samba Pagode.

We can offer full design and conception of Rio Carnival for schools and community aoutreach projects, with workshops in all aspects of Rio Carnival from drumming, costume to dance. We have regularly worked making costume, sculpture and float building for Londons top winning Samba School Paraiso at Notting Hill Carnival. We are a married couple that met in Samba circles in Rio de Janeiro. Our Samba workshops have all drums and percussion supplied directly from Rio, as used by the samba schools there. Sessions are delivered in Brazilian Portuguese and translated live and culturally put in context.

Carlito do Estacio has extensive experience living in the heart of the Samba in Rio de Janeiro, playing with over thirty Schools of Samba over a lifetime, and eventually directing within Estacio de Sa (the oldest Samba School in Rio de Janeiro.) He has also worked in Barracao, the float bulding bases for the production of Carnival, as well as being brought up in a family making a living from sculture- a company he took over design and production for very young. Katherine has been a UK sambista (turned director) for over ten years and is a professional molder for an animatronic model company. She is a designer qualified in Costume interpretation and in Sculpture.

Together we have now founded and Run Boudica School of Samba in Colchester, Essex, the only organisation concentrating solely on the Samba culture of Rio de Janeiro in East Anglia.

We invite you to explore our site. We can offer team building dumming workshops for businesses, with single workshops to design and conception of entire ongoing cross curricular cultural projects in Schools and community outreach contexts.

We are happy to discuss any ideas you have: please email us on [email protected].

In the UK with Boudica, we have done various schools and outreach projects in the CBC and RecCreate, with Mersea School, St Peters School and Honeywood Schools for Samba drumming Costume, dance, and full Carnival design and conception in outreach prjects.

We have also regularly teach Samba with ages right through from 6 to 70+, those with no experience as well as experienced players. We have done ongoing work with Paraiso in London: costumes, sculture and floats and workshops for seasoned Samba players. We have taught severely disabled (though thats not a particular aim), and those with various disabilities in our weekly workshops (Williams, Asbergers and schizophrenia) in an all inclusive family context with an aim to not compromise on playing standard and quality.
