Marcie Harding
Marcie has been involved in teaching Martial Arts, Personal Safety and Personal Development for many years. Marcie first became interested in self defence and personal safety many years ago after she was greatly affected by two very high profile cases of crimes against women which prompted her to study Martial Arts.
She soon realised though that Martial Arts is not the complete answer to keeping oneself safe in this occasionally violent society but an integrated approach is needed.
Marcie now combines personal safety awareness and avoidance theory, practical physical 'self preservation' techniques with confidence enhancing exercises within the framework of a workshop when teaching self defence.
She uses her 20+ years in Martial Arts and personal safety study, her communication skills expertise and her teaching experience and distils this knowledge to provide the client with effective easy to learn methods.
She runs workshops and seminars in Martial Arts, Personal Safety UK wide. Her clients for workshops have included the Malvern Hills Conservators, Panahgar and Malvern St James.

Holywell Martial Arts
Holywell Martial Arts is a Martial Arts School Based in Malvern, Worcestershire.
The School aims to make Martial Arts accessible, fun and a positive experience for everyone... young or old. The School operates a total equality policy
The School incorporates:
Malvern Eskrima Group
Malvern Kestrels Junior Martial Arts
Malvern Merlins Childrens' Martial Arts
First established in 2003 as the Malvern Eskrima Group the School has developed over the years to include Martial Arts for Children and Juniors in it's curriculum to become Holywell Martial Arts
What's in a name?
Holywell Martial Arts is based in Malvern Worcesteshire. Famous for its healing springs, the Malvern Hills have several ancient springs dotted around the hills.
The School believes that the philosophy of Martial Arts can help to both heal and develop people in a very positive way. The alignment to both Holywell and Sacred Spring (which mean the same thing) gives a focus to the purpose of learning the Martial Arts styles within The School.
A Holy Well or Sacred Spring is a small body of water emerging from underground and historically has been revered for it's healing qualities through it's guardian spirits. Teaching excellence parallels the cycle of the water to the sea ....
'Like spring water, teaching needs clarity, it slowly and gently nourishes all it touches
Allowing growth to occur with all it comes into contact with, yet not deciding or determining the pace of growth
Eventually when meeting the sea, it returns ...a cycle of nourishment'
The above quotation is taken from the award for Martial Excellence made to Marcie Harding of the Malvern Eskrima Group on behalf of the Shinpi Izumi Council at the 4th Lynmouth Festival of Martial arts 2009
Experience
Tutor
We booked Marcie for a self-defence workshop for our staff.
We help and support women fleeing domestic violence in refuges and out in the community. We felt it was important for our staff to learn some basic self-defence techniques as they come into contact with difficult situations and need their wits about them.
It became apparent almost immediately that Marcie is a natural teacher of self-defence. She very soon got the staff doing some techniques which will be invaluable for them both personally and professionally.
Although the workshop was professionally run by Marcie, both in-terms of the information she provided and also the demonstrations of the physical techniques, all staff including myself had loads of fun.
We all learned a lot and gained a great deal from the experience. The staff fed back that they felt more confident in defending themselves and as a result we have re-booked Marcie to do another workshop with our organisation.
We also would like Marcie to do some training for the women in our care who have suffered abuse."
