Mark Lester
I aim always to combine a friendly, flexible attitude with a commitment to making good music.
Every learner is different and we have different different goals as well as different learning styles. I try to follow this philosophy in my teaching.
I'm a composer with interests in jazz, classical, pop and cabaret genres. Have a look at my website to hear some samples of my music.
I've been teaching children and adults for 16 years, mostly at beginner and intermediate level. As well as private lessons I occasionally deputise for regular tutors at the City Lit (one of the foremost adult colleges in the UK) where I've taught pop piano, musicianship skills (aural and theory), and singing groups.
I hold the CT ABRSM (Certificate of Teaching of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). I have plenty of experience coaching pupils for graded exams, though am happy for you to learn purely for enjoyment and personal fulfilment.
Get in touch if you'd like to discuss things further.
