I have just finished a PhD in Electrochemistry from the University of Bath and have recently moved to London (N1 area). I am looking to do some part-time science tutoring in the area. I have a general science background of chemistry, physics and mathematics. I my research has also looked at progressive technology areas such as nano- and biotechnology.

I would be an ideal candidate to teach A-level and GCSE students who are having trouble with numerical, scientific or analytical subjects. I am a friendly and down to earth person who can get on with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Experience

Tutor/Demonstrator, University of Bath

During my PhD I spent a percentage of my time teaching undergraduate chemistry students. Classes I was involved in included 1st year lab and workshop groups specifically focusing on elements of physical chemistry. Physical chemistry by its nature is highly mathematically based and I often found myself teach students not only the chemistry of systems but all the mathematical tools needed to accompany them (calculus, statistics, etc.)

I have also mentored a number of students through their final year undergraduate dissertations on electrochemistry. This involved a lot of one-on-one time giving support and ideas as well as teaching theory and experimental techniques. Further to this I have had a number of my students work published and am myself well represented in the scientific journals.
