Mike Flanagan
My name is Mike Flanagan. I've been involved with martial arts and self-defence since the 1970's. I am a teacher of Shinseido Shorin Ryu Karate (in which I hold the rank of 4th dan) and have studied a number of other martial arts. I teach Karate as a means of self-defence in Headingley, Leeds. Our system of Karate is not a sport, so if that's what you're looking ours is probably not the club for you. By the same token its not a fitness class, although you probably will improve your fitness by training in Shinseido. My main aim is short and simple, to teach people to be able to defend themselves. However, there are no shortcuts - the training involve lots of hard work and requires a commitment of time and effort. Membership of our group costs £25 per year, with classes costing £5 per 2 hour session. There are no charges for examinations and no other charges.
