Taijiquan - All Abilities

Our regular taijiquan classes are for all ages and levels, beginning with a basic warm up and progressing to the study of the principles and structures of taijiquan and how to train them in "set" or sequence of choreographed postures.

Most important in performing a taijiquan set is how you design and structure your movements and the emphasis in the classes is on developing the skills to acquire an actual direct experience of the principles and structures being studied, rather than confusing the experience with concept, thoughts and ideas (and even fantasy in some cases!). For example, thinking about relaxing is fine, but it's not relaxing!! What is the experience of relaxing? This is what we gear the classes to, direct experiential understanding of the mind and body to create consciousness and skilful movements, from moment to moment.

Your first lesson is free, so why not come along and try it out.

(Qigong classes are taught separately, as qigong is performed in a different manner to taijiquan, so although the movements look similar, and may even have similar names, the execution and purpose of the postures have different functions)
