Sensei Paul Kitson has practised the Martial Arts for nearly 37 years, with a strong background in both Karate and Judo.

In 1992 he took up the art of Aikido and received his 1st Dan (black belt) in October 1994 and then his 2nd Dan in March 1997. He was awarded his 3rd Dan in November 2002.

In 2005 he joined the Birankai, which is run under the direction of Chiba Sensei, a direct deciple of Morihei Ueshiba (O’sensei) the founder of Aikido.

“I felt that Tempest Aikido needed to be part of an Organisation which would be there for many years to come. I felt that with the amount of Aikido expertise that the Birankai holds, this was the obvious choice to make, making true Aikkai Aikido in the North East a force to be reckoned with."

The club also benefits greatly from other regularly visiting instructors.
