Richard has studied martial arts since 1974 and trained in Holland, France, Switzerland, Greece ,China and Russia as well as the UK. He has been training in Tai Chi regularly over 8 years and is a qualified trainer / instructor; He holds a nationally recognised Coaching certificate in Aikido and a BCCMA level 2 coaching award for Tai Chi, and is qualified in First Aid. He has been instructing in Tai Chi for about 6 years with 3 regular classes per week and at one time 2 term time college classes per week in North Devon, Richard continues his studies with as many good teachers as possible, he has travelled to China four times and has visited the Shaolin Temple, Wudang Mountain and the home town and grave of Yang Lu Chan by way of pilgrimage visits.
Richard has three times been invited to teach Tai Chi at the Koriana Mind and Body Centre on Kefalonia, Greek Islands.

Richard tends to a positive and spiritual philosophy on life and attempts to guide students in the same way.

Aiki Jo

Teacher Richard Small 4th Dan with TIA Europe 40 years experience in Aikido. (Also qualified teacher of Tai Chi) Experienced and qualified Aikido coach but this class focusses on the use of weapons, eg Jo and Ken, to improve the body and spirit. The journey to enlightenment is the same.

Aiki Jo Bideford

Instructor is a qualified coach in Aikido as well as Tai Chi and fully insured to teach.Membership of the club is only £5 per year and includes insurance.The art is suitable for any adults of almost any ability.
