Roger Granville
Northampton Meadow Speakers is a new speakers club starting in Northampton. Meadow Speakers is the first Toastmasters International Club in Northamptonshire. We are a public speaking club that is affiliated with Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization. There are more than 11,000 affiliated clubs worldwide with over 215,000 members. There are already neighbouring clubs in Milton Keynes (Eldergate Speaker and North Bucks Speakers) and Bedford (Bedford Speakers).
This is a great opportunity for anyone who needs to speak to people in either a business or personal role to gain experience and grow in confidence. Club members are encouraged to develop speaking, listening and critical thinking skills at their own pace and to take part in entertaining meetings programmes.
Full details can be found at www.meadowspeakers.org.uk or ring Roger Granville on 01604 830034. Come along for a warm welcome and a lively, interesting evening. Develop your skills and gain internationally recognised qualifications in communications and leadership.
Our mission at Meadows Speakers is to provide high quality, focused meetings with an emphasis on maximizing educational and learning opportunities for our members. We also aim to provide a supportive and friendly environment for people to practice and improve their public speaking skills.
Meetings
Our members arrive at 7:00pm for an 7:15pm prompt start. Each meeting consists of a minimum of 2 speeches, a table topics session and a warm-up with a different theme each meeting to encourage audience participation. There may also be an observational humor session for members who want to make a short impromptu humorous speech. The meeting concludes at approximately 21:00.
We also aim to provide regular opportunities for training and development in the form of workshops (1 x 2 months).
Who can join?
Members at Meadow Speakers come from a variety of different backgrounds but with one common goal: a willingness and desire to improve their communication skills.
They include students who would like to improve their presentation skills or prepare themselves for a future career, corporate employees and businessmen who would like to enhance their impact through effective communication, volunteers and charity workers who may not have access to public speaking training and many more who simply want to be able to stand up and give a confident and moving speech at their daughters/ best friends wedding.
How can I join?
The first step that you can take (and that we all once had to take) is to come along to one of our meetings as a guest. This will allow you to experience the club and the meetings first hand and to decide whether you would like to join.
Our club thrives on guests and we have many new faces each week. We won't make you speak if you don't want to and we won't try to sign you up either. You can come as a guest as often as you like until you decide whether it's for you or not. Most of our guests become members and we hope you will too. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected].
