In 2011, I was in Los Angeles recording on a movie soundtrack, a musical, going for high profile auditions, and was considered as a guitarist for X Factor USA.
In 2008, I gained a music publishing deal.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching because I can relate to students who are learning and trying to progress in their instrument as I can remember being in their position when I started learning music. Seeing students progress and improve as a result of helping them, I find to be one of the most rewarding aspects for me personally.
Lessons are tailored around what the students want to learn and I can also help students prepare for auditions and give advice from first hand experience with the business aspects of the music industry.
In my first year of studying music, I completed the diploma in Contemporary Popular Music Performance with a distinction and was also awarded Most Improved Guitarist of The Year Award with a year's endorsement to Ernie Ball.
I completed the higher diploma in my second year and went on to complete the degree for a further two years in which I was in a band which unanimously won a battle of the bands competition which was judged by a panel of music industry experts. The prize was to record a demo in a professional recording studio.
Whilst studying for the degree, I was chosen to perform live with Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The institute I studied at have a video recording of this.
I was taught by many leading professional guitarists within the industry.
Studying allowed me to develop playing in a range of styles including Rock, Pop, Funk, Metal, Latin, Reggae, Jazz etc. Some of the other key skills gained while studying were in pre production, post production, practical musicianship, technical and stylistic development, music business, music law, music theory, live performance, sight reading, session styles, solo performance, creative improvisation, composition and arrangement, and musical direction.
I enjoy recording in the studio and can perform under pressure whether it be in a live, recording or song writing situation and can help students with the same scenarios. I have an extensive experience of live performance and continue to enjoy gigging, particularly in the London area.
In early 2007, I recorded with top producer Thomas Johansen (All Saints, Boy Kill Boy, Wheatus, Coolio etc) via Stephen Budd Management and had my tracks mastered by Steve Rooke at Abbey Road Studios. These tracks reached the semi finals of the UK Songwriting Contest in 2007.
In 2007, I also recorded in Los Angeles with one of L.A’s most sought after Grammy nominated recording engineers/producer Michael C. Ross (his credits include Christina Aguilera, Pussycat Dolls, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Vanessa Carlton to name a few) at a top Los Angeles recording studio. The track was also mastered at Abbey Road Studios.
