Does your child need help with reading, writing or spelling?

As an experienced English Teacher I support children from age 7 to GCSE with all aspects of English. My students have reported increased confidence and boosted grades. Sometimes precision teaching is needed on aspects of English which are a little hazy and sometimes pupils need regular structured practice of their skills to keep on top of their game.

As they get older, learners typically need support with the planning and writing of essays, study skills and 'filling in the gaps' of punctuation and grammar to secure their desired grade. They may appreciate a parallel approach to classwork such as literature or speaking and listening work.

I am also a Specialist Dyslexia Tutor and Assessor. If you wish, I can make a full assessment. I can plan and deliver a tailored teaching programme to address your child's specific needs. The multisensory, structured and cumulative approach works excellently with non-dyslexic learners too, for example for those who find spelling difficult. My recent, thorough, academically rigorous training uses the latest methods to ensure the best educational outcome for your child.

I have nine years' secondary teaching experience and have also taught in primary schools. Additionally, I have tutored one to one both privately and in schools as part of a government initiative.
I have children and close experience of dyslexia and Asperger Syndrome, which informs my work and ensures my continuous training.
I have a very up to date qualification, AMBDA ATS Post Graduate Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulty (Dyslexia), (Edge Hill University).
This training has deepened the understanding gained in my PGCE English (teaching qualification) and BA (Hons) English Language and Literature.

I am available until 6pm weekday evenings. Occasionally I am able to accommodate students at weekends.
