Stephen Morris
I started playing guitar when I was 15, inspired by a friend who could play bits of Hendrix and Clapton. Within 2 years I had formed a band with some school mates and soon we were playing gigs around Rotherham. It was a great way to learn, forcing all of us to play songs all the way through and in time with each other.
Since then I have been playing electric or acoustic guitar in various bands. In recent times I was the lead guitarist in a 70's cover band called Roped In who played at various pubs in the Derbyshire area, the guitarist in a folk band called Banksiders and at folk sessions around North Derbyshire . I also play guitar for Barn Dances and Ceilidhs with Kath and a caller.
I have been teaching for over 10 years, both in schools and privately, to pupils ranging from 6 to 56. During this time I have come to the conclusion that 'One to One' tuition is the best way to learn an instrument, and much better value for money, than in a group situation. Lessons are structured to the individual's aptitude and musical tastes, be it Green Day, Bob Dylan or 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'!
