Sue Lancaster
I have my own studio where I make my own machine embroidered textiles for sale and exhibition, and also teach others various textile skills.
My 'Stitched Up and Fleeced' Studio is now a micro-centre for City and Guilds courses in Textile Crafts. Level 2 and 3 Embroidery courses were successfully launched in September 2008. Level 2 courses in textile Decoration, Feltmaking, Knitting and Fashion will be added this year.
I also run inspirational one-off Saturday workshops which are organised seasonally. Get in touch for the latest programme or see my entry on www.thetextiledirectory.com
Based on 10 years of successfully tutoring students towards Licentiate Membership of the Society of Designer Craftsmen through various colleges I am now launching my own course, 'Make Your Mark', which will provide critical and directional support for suitably experienced people.
One-to-one lessons
Group Classes
'Make Your Mark'
Critical and directional support for the pursuit of excellence in textile crafts through visual research and exploration of contemporary crafting skills.
The aim of this course is to encourage the creation of original and beautiful functional and/or decorative items. Suitably experienced students will be given guidance through self assessment towards selection and refinement of personal strengths. Advice will be offered on the development of marketing strategies together with building and maintaining a professional profile.
The course will culminate in the development of a collection of works which can be marketed or exhibited. Each student will be considered for application for a Licentiate Membership of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
City & Guild Qualifications
Level 2 classes run for one academic year starting in September.
Level 3 classes are a 2 year commitment with fees due annually. Each year starts in September. These are practical Design and Craft classes resulting in qualifications which are comparable with GCSE, AS and A2 levels. They are also great fun!
