I am a paediatric nurse with a Diploma in Nursing and a BSc in Health Studies with 12 years experience working both in the UK and in Australia. I gained a Higher Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy 10 years ago which has led me to where I am today !
I began to have an interest in complimentary therapies and child positive therapies so I wanted to use my aromatherapy knowledge in a paediatric setting and so I undertook training with the International Association of Infant Massage and Mia Elmister to become a certified infant massage Instructer. From there I wanted to teach something which enhanced development of babies and I had heard a lot about baby yoga which I then studied in London with Birthlight and the wonderful Francoise Freedman to achieve a Diploma in Baby Yoga.

Since then I have taken a course which specialises in prenatal massage with Birth Basics in London. I have also become a qualified HypnoBirthing Educator (the mongon method) and I have had the pleasure of guiding mums to be and there chosen birth partners through the HypnoBirthing course.

I have also trained as a Certified Happiest Baby in the Block teacher which compliments baby massage.

Since a lot of babies are with me from bumps I am reluctant to say goodbye at the end of baby yoga so I then trained as a Music Educator. I play the piano and achieved Higher in Music at school. Tuneful Tinies/Toddlers is about music and movement and fun !

Baby n You was formed in 2007 and is a non franchise local business. All classes are taught by me and designed by me. I offer a truly personal service and care about all the babies and toddlers that come through my door. I am not in alliance with any other companies and as a result my classes are relaxed informal and fun. There isn't pressure of targets and set hours to achieve. I also hold an enhanced disclosure Scotland.

I now have 2 children and have used all my knowledge with them.

I hope to meet you !!

Tuneful Toddlers

Tuneful Toddler class which is for toddlers 18 months - 3 years.
In the world of toddlers, movement and exploration are their greatest need and music fits right in ! Your toddler will be absorbed in a fun musical environment, which supports all areas of musical development through research based activities. Through singing, finger play, rhythm activities, dancing, instrument playing and focused listening the foundations of musical learning will be encouraged and nurtured making this a very special music time. Toddlers are encouraged to be creative, to initiate their own ideas and to respond in their own ways. As they play instruments, sing, move and explore, they'll uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control and communication skills.

There are only 12 places in each class so if you would like to book a place or get more information please get in touch.

Tuneful Tinies

Tuneful Tinies is a music and movement class for babies 0 - 18 months.

You love singing with your baby. And you know that your baby loves it when you sing to them too! But did you know that singing with baby has multiple emotional and cognitive benefits too?

Studies have shown that early engagement with making music together and regular music making with your baby can help in their development in multiple areas.

Bonding

Did you know that your baby loves the sound of your voice? A baby responds positively and with love to the sound of the voice of their caregivers. When you sing with your child, they feel connected and close to you. This intimate act of making music together is a shared experience that brings you closer together. All our participants are encouraged to sing with their baby in order to experience this joyful exchange. Classes are a safe and encouraging space for adults to share their love of music and to sing without inhibition. In this way, you can take this love of singing in class and sing songs with your little one in your daily lives too.

Math Skills

Music is one of the first ways that babies learn maths and counting. For example, music is created through making patterns and about how those patterns go together. Your baby will learn about counting beats and keeping a rhythm.

Language Skills

The songs at class help with the development of language skills. Singing songs help little ones make associations about the meaning of words. This then helps with the learning new words. Using actions during our songs also supports word acquisition.

Make Friends while Singing Together

Did you know that singing in a group is one of the best ways to bond with people? Feelings of connectedness occur when we sing together because of the endorphins are released. The act of singing together and listening to one another while do so actually synchronizes people to one another. Feelings of connection and friendship naturally develop from the simple act of making music together.

Appreciation of Cultures

Whatever music we listen to comes from somewhere. In music class we sing songs that are familiar as well as some from around the world and often in the native language which is very interesting for babies to hear. We will have bells, drums, clackers, egg shakers and lots over other instruments to explore.

Coordination

Music and movement go hand in hand. When singing at music class you and your baby will be part of free dance and coordinated dance activities. Lots of fun and the babies love watching each other during the circle dances.

Stress relief

Music is a great to relieve tension. We have a lovely quiet time when we listen without movement to a piece of music with relaxing bubbles floating by. Also, when you sing your body releases endorphins, the natural feel-good chemical that makes you feel happy! On top of that, when you sing your body is breathing deeply. With all the deep breathing that you naturally do while singing, your body will feel both alert, happy and uplifted. So, sing your heart out in class!

Baby Calming Workshop

The first thing I need to make you aware of is that the Baby Calming technique is aimed at babies aged 2 weeks- 3 months/4 months. The class is a one off session only. In my experience the techniques have always worked. If you have an unsettled baby I would highly recommend the Baby Calming class. These techniques are really amazing, easy to learn and make such a massive difference to both the baby and parents. I have taught many new parents these techniques and they ALWAYS work. I would strongly recommend this class to anyone with a colicky baby.

At baby calming baby class I will teach you:

Why babies cry & why some cry so much.
The calming reflex - the 'virtual off switch' to crying which all babies are
born with.
The 5 S's developed by Dr. Harvey Karp.
The missing 4th trimester - the theory that babies are born 3 months early.
Help to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. (SIDS)
Prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome form over frustration.
Lessen the chances of Post-Natal Depression, Marital stress, Sleepless
nights & having an inconsolable baby.
Why the idea that colic due to wind is an old wives tale.
Why keeping your house quiet may actually be very unsettling to newborn
babies.
Why most babies get more upset in the evening.
An easy way to help babies sleep a few more hours each night.
Why Dad's are often the best calmer in the family.

Baby Yoga

In the increasingly fast pace of the modern world, our babies need all the help we can give them in order to create a foundation of well-being that will serve them all of their life. Yoga offers babies a resource that will enable them to deal positively with stress and know how to relax. Our handling of babies is a loving one, in which the conversion of a challenging movement into a safe game, to play and enjoy, is repeated again and again. This playful stimulation through yoga-based exercise is the best possible way of helping babies relish life, with all its demands, as they grow.

You don’t need any previous yoga experience at all. The emphasis of the class is on the babies and they are naturally very good at yoga. No yoga mats required they are provided at class and there is a maximum of 10 places per class so book early to avoid disappointment. The classes are relaxed, fun and great for meeting new friends for mums and babies alike! After all your hard work in the class there is always time for complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits at the end and a good chance for a laugh and a good gossip!

If you have any questions or want more information on baby yoga please get in touch and I hope to meet you and your baby very soon.
