Here are just some of the ways you will benefit from working with the highly qualified professional teachers at Voxbox:

Improve your understanding of how your voice works, and how it feels and sounds to you the singer when you are singing correctly
Develop solid technical skill for your future vocal health and development
Learn to sing strongly and seamlessly through the bridges to make the most of your vocal range
Find the balance between air and muscle to enable a strong and versatile tone throughout your range

We are certified Speech Level Singing instructors. We are part of a world-wide network of teachers who are dedicated to developing singing voices. We train continually with some of the world's most successful singing teachers, developing our own voices and our teaching skills. As SLS teachers we hold certain beliefs:

That every unique voice can be trained to reach a point of optimum vocal function
That an optimally functioning voice is inherently unique, strong and beautiful
That power and range are gained by precision & skill, not by force
That knowledge and understanding of the voice gives the singer confidence, stamina and stylistic choice
That singing is a highly skilled discipline, and just as with any high-level skill, singers need training to achieve the best they can do
Many of the most famous names in music have studied with Speech Level teachers.

At Voxbox there are teachers at various levels of SLS certification, at prices to suit your needs and budget. We also offer our popular "Beginners' Course."

Performance Workshop

Do you watch other singers on stage and wonder how they do it with such ease? Where to they find the moves, how do they have the confidence to chat to the audience as if they were best friends?

Discover your natural stage presence in this 5 hour workhop. Learn to overcome your own fears of performing on stage, eradicate old habits, work a crowd, move and sing with confidence.

All participants are expected to prepare a song, which will be performed at the end of the day, using all your new-found skills. You will receive constructive criticism from the facilitator and other participants. The performance area will be set up as if it was a professional gig - mic, lights and feedback.

This workshop is for singers who are currently or have the serious intention of being on stage in the future.

Places are limited to 12 participants only, so don't miss out, book your place now!

Free Singing Workshop

What do you want from your singing voice?

This is the first question that we ask in our free workshops and we always get the same response: range, power, stamina, clarity, pitch and good tone. Our passion at Voxbox is to help you to reach these goals. Every month Voxbox directors Lucy Phillips and Leon Berrange hold a free workshop where they take you through the building blocks of great singing, step-by-step. This fun and informative workshop will teach you how your voice works and show you the most common difficulties that singers experience and how we can help you to overcome them.

Both Leon and Lucy are Certified Speech Level Singing teachers. The SLS technique is internationally known as the most effective coaching technique in contemporary popular music. Located in the heart of Camden since 2002, Voxbox is the perfect place to train for a singing career or just for fun. Beginners Jazz Singing

The Beginners Jazz workshop introduces you to the three main styles of jazz - swing, latin and blues. You will explore these three styles, discovering what makes each one unique from the other, within the jazz umbrella.

Anna Higgs studied at Trinity College of Music specialising in Jazz voice and has been singing jazz professionally for over seven years and will be inspiring your group with each song

Some topics covered are:

* general introduction to jazz styles
* improvisation - timing and phrasing

You will learn these 3 jazz standards using the different styles and then a 4th song using all different 'feels'.
Beginners Jazz is a fun introduction to jazz and you will not be expected to sing individually unless the mood takes you.
