Yukimi Muta

My name is Yukimi and I coach singing and perform in Birmingham. I am a classically trained singer and hold a Bachelor of Music degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in vocal and operatic performance. I have performed in many concerts and opera productions in the UK and other countries.

I specialise in Classical singing, including English songs, German Lieder, French art songs, oratorios and operatic arias from Baroque to Modern period. I can assist language pronunciations in German, Italian, French, Czech and Japanese (English as well if it is not your first language).

I usually coach singers who wish to enhance their performance (especially those who have upcoming concerts or exams) on ad-hoc basis. However, other arrangements may also be possible.
The levels I coach are:

ABRSM Grades 1-8 (or equivalent)
GCSE/A-Level performance modules
Entrance auditions for universities/music colleges (the first degree or lower)

My aim in coaching singing is to develop my students' performance levels technically and visually. I also emphasise the interpretation of the music: singing is not only about notes, words, and the sounds that come out of your mouth. Understanding of the context, composer's thoughts and accompaniment are also very important clues to execute an engaging performance.
