One2One Tuition at home

For a more personal and tailor-made photography tuition day, we offer a one-to-one service in a location of your choice. This service is ideal for the complete beginner who is struggling to get to grips with their new camera and feels they would feel out of place on a traditional photography workshop or those who are getting lost in a normal classroom situation.

We can work on location in the Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Moors or Peak District, or you can choose a location nearer to your home if you wish*. The tuition can even take place at your own home, where I can talk you through the controls of your camera at your pace and provide a presentation that covers the basic skills that apply to all types of photography, that as a complete novice you may be struggling to comprehend (we’ve all been there). I will explain in simple, easy to understand terms, the basics of photography and any other technique, feature or skill that may be holding you back from enjoying your hobby. As part of the home visit, we can also review your portfolio so far.

We will cover the following key skills:

* Understanding your Digital SLR- controls, features and functions
* Exposure- shutter speeds, apertures, metering and histograms
* Composition- foreground, rule-of-thirds, etc
* Depth-of-Field- what is it and how can you control it?
* Light- How times of the day affects you pictures
* Filters- Different types and when to use them

The workshop time can also be tailored to your requirements, but will usually last up to 6 hours, depending on the time of year. Home visits last around 4 hours.
