The benefits of yoga on our bodies, health, emotions and well-being is becoming main-stream knowledge. However, joining a drop-in yoga class which cater for all levels (the kind gyms and fitness normally run) can be an intimidating experience. This is why I have created dedicated 6-week absolute beginners yoga courses, during which the basics will be explained, beginners yoga poses will be introduced gradually, and we will progress from week to week in an intelligent way and supportive environment.

During these 6-week courses you will:

Learn the foundations of postures and basic breathing techniques
Strengthen and tone your body
Improve flexiblity and range of motion
Increase energy and zest for life
Decrease stress levels and learn to relax
Be inspired to live with a lighter and more joyful heart

Come together at the peaceful haven of Valle de Vida to celebrate or rediscover the beauty of your inner light through practice. Enjoy a week of invigorating dynamic hatha yoga to tap into your inner radiance, offerings of heart felt meditation, and relaxation techniques to relieve tension and arrive in the "here and now".

This retreat is open to all levels, from beginners to seasoned practioners, and variations will be given to ensure that everyone can work at a level suited to their own particular needs. The yoga will consist of two sessions a day, provided by yoga teachers Julee and Victoria; one dynamic and energizing session in the morning, and a slower, relaxing evening practice. There will also be one morning meditation session led by Pake (additional meditation session can be provided if several people are interested).

Also, there will be optional contemplation/reflection exercises between sessions for those who want to create a change in their lives, prepare for new beginnings or perhaps have important decisions to make. Bringing a journal for reflections and thoughts is highly recommended!

Between sessions, there will be time to explore the surrounding countryside or enjoy an excursion to a nearby village or market. Alternatively, enjoy a dip in the pool, relax your muscles in the sauna or hydrotherapy pool or indulge in a massage of your choice. Day trips to Malaga to visit Picasso museum can be arranged, as well as activities such as horse riding and mountain biking. If you would like to indulge in a relaxing treatment, Robi is the resident therapist on site and has 20 yrs experience behind him, offering a range of massage and Osteopathy treatments.

The accomodation at Valle de Vida: we will be sleeping close to nature in clean, spacious and comfortable teepees and ME-pods which the venue describes as "with tiled floors, electricity and beautiful bedding, perfect for those with an affinity for the outdoors, but who don't wish to compromise on comfort. Each is connected with paths widning amongst the almond and olive groves, picked out with solar lights. They all have beautiful views across the valley, the stars glittering, a night breeze whispering through the trees, the sound of crickets and cicadas lulling you to sleep". The food will be vegetarian and freshly prepared with local and organic ingredients.

Daily yoga sessions will be taught by myself and my beautiful yoga teacher friend Julee Yew Crijins, who is a bundle of energy, enthusiasm and devotion. Julee teaches electric vinyasa flow sequences that promises to raise your energy and uplift your whole being! Wow - what a treat! Mediation sessions will be led by Pake Hall, who has a lot of dedicated meditation practice/experience and has led meditation groups for many years. For those that are new to meditation, Pake will demystify the meditation experience and introduce very simple and straight-forward techniques to help you become more present and more grounded.

Price:

Shared twin/double £625 per person (if you do not have a room-mate we will pair you up with someone)

Single room £825 per person

£200 deposit required to reserve a space (deposit is non-refundable should you need to cancel for any reason). Balance will be due 4 weeks before the retreat starts.

6 nights accomodation (arrival 7 May mid-day/afternoon, departure 13 May morning/midday)

Not included in the price:

Flights (several low cost airlines fly to Malaga such as EasyJet, RyanAir, Monarch etc. so if you book well in advance fares should be very reasonable) We encourage arrival midday to afternoon so that flight transfers can be shared.
