Intially trained to teach hooping with Hoopgirl in Los Angeles, USA, in November 2006. Began teaching hoop classes in London in February 2007. Since then I've trained to Level 3 with Hoopgirl and Level 2 with Bodyhoops and am an Exercise to Music (aerobics) teacher. My exercise background is a mix of dance, martial arts, bodybuilding (weight-training), and fitness.
I also hold a City & Guilds adult education PTTLS qualification and am an NLP practitioner and personal development enthusiast.
Under the business name Hoopswhirled, I've taught hoop classes for Redbridge Healthy Lifestyles Programme and Redbridge CVS, as well as Hertfordshire Adult and Family Learning Service. CRB checked by both Herts and Redbridge.
Have taught hula hoop courses at City Lit in Covent Garden since 2009.
Currently have a beginner course in Hornsey, starting on Wednesday 17 September 2014, and other classes running for various organisations.
From time to time, I run drop-in classes in Hornsey, which are also on Wednesday evenings.
Please check my website for details.
Always looking for new venues for classes and new ways to show people that exercise can be joyful, empowering and fun.
Additional training includes Pure Stretch and Fitsteps (ballroom dancing style fitness) and I'm currently taking a circuit training course.

Beginner Hoopdance - Hornsey - from 17 September 2014
Fun and friendly, this six week course will take you from beginner to spinner. Learn, share, and discover new skills as you expand your hoopdance repertoire. At the end of this course you will understand how to keep a hoop spinning on your waist, hips, upper body and hands and be able to put a range of moves together to produce your own unique hoopdance.
Packed with hints, tips, advice and bucketloads of positive encouragement, this course will help you create a firm foundation on which to build your palace of hoop moves and tricks, safely and effectively.
This course assumes no prior knowledge and is designed to help you build skills from the ground up. It is an introduction to hoopdance, covering many of the foundation moves and techniques that will take you forward on your hoop journey. I have been developing some additional material and will be sharing this throughout the course.
By the end of the six weeks, you have learned a variety of moves you can practise at home, in the park, or anywhere there is room to twirl a hoop!

Experience
Hoop teacher information
After taking my first hoop teacher training with Christabel Zamor in LA in November 2006, I began teaching in February 2007. After running several courses at one venue, I increases the number of classes and began teaching at other venues. I took the Hoopgirl Level 2 training in August 2008 and in February 2009 I travelled to San Francisco and experienced the inspirational Level 3 Hoopgirl teacher training.
As well as offering my own classes, I have worked with several local authorities as part of various Wider Family Learning and Healthy Lifestyles initiatives, using hooping to encourage people to become more active in a fun, enjoyable way.
From 2008 to 2011 I ran a "Hoop Club" as a once a month community event in Highgate, north London. Sadly I had to call a halt to these Sunday sessions because the venue hire costs rose to a level that was not sustainable for such a small community venture.
Throughout the UK there seem to be more and more options for everyone from the novice hooper to the experienced hoopdancer who wants a challenge!
Happy hooping and I look forward to meeting you.
