I’m an experienced tutor, having done this for over 20 years and have successfully tutored several dozen pupils. I visit pupils homes and cover Edinburgh, East and Mid Lothian I am successful in my approach to tuition as I relate problems in school to “real-life” problems and applications, thus helping to motivate the tutee. As a tutor, I need to take the lead from the school/college through the pupil and adapt my basic style and personalise it to the pupil, ensuring that they understand the concepts covered and even setting problems that go beyond the curriculum to “stretch” the pupil, this is particularly important if they intend to use the subject at university. The teaching material I use is, for the most part, alternative current books for the same subject, for instance, most schools use Heineman Higher Mathematics, I tend to use Higher Maths in Action, thereby, having a wealth of problems for pupils as well as problems I will write myself. Please feel free to email me with any queries you may have

Experience

Private tutor throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians

I started to tutor an undergraduate student from Edinburgh University to pass his resits in the summer of 2001, from there, I then helped a girl whose parents contacted the university I was conducting research in. From this I have tutored several children and mature students each year, with excellent results for the most part.
