Helen Gibson

I am a professional dressmaker and my commissions consist mainly of prom gowns, evening gowns, cocktail dresses, lace day wear and historical gowns which are very popular as alternative wedding gowns.

I have more than thirty years dressmaking experience and I am a perfectionist in all that I do. I never tire from creating and I love to pass on my passion to others. It's so easy when you know how!

I learnt to crochet and knit when I was seven and made many baby blankets and tops for myself and then at ten I became interested in sewing. I made my first piece of clothing at eleven.

I love to teach and have twenty years teaching experience. In addition to teaching dressmaking I have also been a fitness instructior, a primary school dance teacher and a nail technician trainer.

I have also had commissions for a wide variety of soft furnishings, T-shirt painting and glass painting and in addition to these I also love embroidery, applique, beadwork, drawing and mural painting.
