Julia Dennis is a professional artist who has taught Fine Art and Design in the UK, Italy and Papua New Guinea in Further and Higher Education art institutions for more than 30 years. Throughout her career she has prepared student portfolios for all specialist fields in art, design and architecture with consistent great success. She offers BESPOKE art and design portfolio preparation courses and personal support in fine art, painting, sculpture, architecture, 3D design, fashion and textile design, fashion photography, graphic design, animation and illustration.
In 2008, Julia set up London Art Portfolio in Wapping, London. Within a few years LAP transferred to a floor of studios in a historic listed building next to Tower Bridge, in the heart of London. Due to an ever-increasing interest in the preparation of art, design and architecture portfolios from students in the UK, Europe and across the globe, London Art Portfolio has recently become a limited company. Many of our students return to study at London Art Portfolio throughout their studies and professional careers.
During this time the LAP specialist team has grown. We now have many top designers in all specialist fields and professional practising fine artists who exhibit internationally who regularly tutor at the London Art Portfolio Studio’s.
In addition, we are increasingly successful at advising and preparing students that have a dream to study in art, design or architecture who already hold an academic degree. Through either our 24 Week Portfolio Programme or intense blocks of one-one tuition, we can prepare you for direct entry onto a Masters Degree applications in a specialist field of art, fashion, graphics, photography, 3D design, architecture and car design. This requires absolute dedication and determination to succeed; to follow our programme closely and to fully attend. If you have this within you we can help you get there.
London Art Portfolio delivers 1, 4, 6, 12, 18 and 24 week course programmes for portfolio preparation and development. You can block build your courses, call us to discuss more. Recent success in applications for internships related to the 24 week course programme, include prominent design and artist studios such as Peter Pilotto and Iris van Herpen fashion houses.
We also run fun, focused portfolio development courses for students 18 and under. This is a great way to prepare early for your future goals and aspirations and be ahead of everyone else. Our summer course programmes are proving a great success!
You can decide how you’d like to book, whether it be a shorter course programme or longer, with or without one-one tutorials. We tailor make your bespoke programme to meet your needs for your personal applications. We will support and direct you in the preparation of both your physical portfolio and your digital portfolio if you so choose. Please remember all applications in the UK and most art and design schools around the world, request for a digital portfolio to be uploaded online as part of your application process. The digital portfolio is often the first stage of the whole application process and in the UK, it frequently determines whether you will be selected for interview immediately after you have applied to UCAS online.

Art & Design Portfolio Preparation Courses
London Art Portfolio offers bespoke one-one portfolio preparation, as well as a range of different courses and workshops.
London Art Portfolio offers 1, 4, 6, 12, 18 and 24 week course programmes for portfolio preparation. These consist of 12 hours tuition per week, made up of 3 hour sessions each day (Monday - Thursday).
The 24 week portfolio development course consists of two half term breaks and the Christmas break. At the end of the course, students will have covered all the fundamental skills and idea development in Art and Design to present for any of the following:
- direct BA Degree applications
- pre-Degree applications at foundations level (if this is necessary)
- Post-Graduate Masters applications
- a professional career portfolio
- opportunity for internships at a top artist studio, design studio or fashion house

One – One Portfolio Preparation Tutorials
£84 per hour, 2 hours minimum = £168 per 2 hr session.
One-One Tutorials are a great opportunity for you to receive quality bespoke feedback on your personal requirements, which can either lead to a successful art and design portfolio, or for the practicing artist or designer, inspire innovative ideas and concepts, alongside the exploration of materials, process and technique.
Some Art and Design Portfolio Preparation Course tutees also choose to book One-One Tutorials for finalising the organisation of their portfolio and their online Foundation, UCAS or Masters applications. As well as professional development and a change in career.
We try to be flexible and offer a choice of pay-as-you-go or block booking.
Beginners to advanced level are welcome.
Each One-One Tutorial booking is delivered in 2-hour minimum sessions. During each session you will then be set specific tasks to learn or improve that relate to your personal needs. At the end of each session a ‘Independent Study’ outline will be discussed and drawn up for you to follow through in your own time. The whole process is very bespoke led which is ideal for your University applications.
We offer our one-to-one art portfolio tuition - 2 hours recommended. Bespoke action plans are drawn up to meet your specific needs.

The 24 week portfolio development course is a great opportunity for anyone who is on a gap year in London or career change. This course is spread over the autumn into the spring term up to Easter. In this way each student can be sure to have covered all of the requirements, in more depth, to be ready for their future chosen Degree applications or professional career.
Imbedded into this programme all students are also encouraged to aspire to creating a portfolio that can be aimed at gaining work experience as an intern or as a first step on their chosen career. The 24 week course has a particular value that can deliver all that you require in this period of time. At the end of the course, students will receive our internal certification and the prepared portfolio will then be used to win a place as an intern at a top fashion house, gallery or design group. Placements have included fashion design internships with Peter Pilotto and Iris van Herpen.

Art and design portfolio preparation is an essential part of your Universality Art School application process. Julia has been preparing portfolio for some years as a full time and visiting lecturer in both Further and Higher Education.
Julia Dennis runs London Art Portfolio which focuses on the preparation of art and design portfolios for A’ Level Coursework development and Foundation, Degree and post-graduate Masters University Degree applications.
London Art Portfolio is based in Central London near Tower Bridge, easy for public transport and rail and airport links in and outside the UK. London Art Portfolio offers support and guidance in developing A' Level work Coursework and art and design portfolio preparation for Foundation, Degree and Post Graduate University Masters Degree applications. Julia is experienced in preparing student portfolio development; designing bespoke action plans for specialist project support and teaching professional presentation skills. Her students
include a mix of age ranges including mature students who wanted to re-train, learn new skills or want to prepare a strong portfolio for Art
School applications.
In the UK Julia’s career has included being Course leader of a Foundation Course, National Diploma in Fine Art and Design and has lectured in both HE and FE in and outside London. In Europe Julia lectured in Italy at the re-knowned Instituto Europeo di Design in Turin where she co-ordinated the drawing programme for the Degree Design departments. She is fluent in Italian, and has a fair understanding of French and Spanish.
She was also involved in an EU Funded Erasmus project and designed a Comenius FE & HE project between art and design institutions in the UK, Finland, Sweden and Belgium, which was highly successful.
She assists students with their online UCAS Degree form filling, supporting UCAS Statement writing, UCAS interviews; UCAS interview preparation and confidence building. Her students have become, high achievers and are in touch with many via Face book.
During her career Julia has placed more than a 1000 students onto FE and HE courses in art and design, many of which have progressed onto art school courses within the University of the Arts, the University of Creative Arts, and many others for a range of specialist subjects. She has a close working relationship with these institutions.
Her student groups are fun, with a lively mix of students from different cultural backgrounds from the UK and International.
