I have been playing saxophones for over 20 years, most of them in New Zealand,although I am English. I have been in bands - jazz, pop, theatre orchestras, New Scottish Orchestra, opened department stores, made jingles, taught extensively, made some CDs. My teaching method is a very holistic one, and I stress the importance of tone, improvisation and sight-reading from the outset. I have a current enhanced CRB check.

I can advise on buying new (or vintage!) saxophones, mouthpieces, or repairing old ones. I might even be able to hire you one, until you decide you really want to 'go for it'.
