Master Michael Tse is one of the most well-known teachers of Qigong, Chinese Martial Arts and Chinese Culture in the west. He has dedicated his life to the study, practice and teaching of traditional Chinese Martial Arts & Qigong. Master Michael Tse holds regular weekly classes in central London and Wimbledon, as well as teaching seminars and courses in the UK and across the World.
Master Tse's own teachers include Grandmaster Yang Meijun (Dayan - Wild Goose Qigong), Grandmaster Ip Chun (Wing Chun Kuen), Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang (Chen Taijiquan) and Grandmaster Wu Chun Yuen (Northern Shaolin Kung Fu). He has spent many, many years studying these skills in great depth with these teachers, and it is this in-depth knowledge built up over time that allows Master Tse to teach with such clarity and simplicity.
Master Tse teaches weekly classes in;
Wing Chun Kuen, a traditional Chinese martial art, with roots going back some 400 years to the Shaolin temple. Wing Chun does not rely on size or strength, instead using skill, sensitivity and footwork to allow a smaller person to overcome a larger stronger opponent. Wing Chun is ideal for men or women, it is very practical for self defence whilst also improving the health of anyone studying correctly.
Dayan - Wild Goose Qigong, a traditional Chinese skill created over 1800 years ago. Developed by Daoist monks, it is based on the movements of the Da (big) Yan (wild geese), which the monks combined with their knowledge of Chinese medicine theory, including knowledge about the channels and acupoints in the body, to create Dayan Qigong. The skill was taught in secret for nearly two thousand years, before being opened to the public by Grandmaster Yang Meijun. The movements required to start practising are very gentle making this skill ideal for adults of all ages and abilities.
Chen Taijiquan - The Chen family Taijiquan was originally developed as a martial art skill over 400 years ago by a man called Chen Wang Ting. It is a very powerful martial art and students benefit from improved health whilst also learning the martial art aspect of this traditional skill. Although it is accepted to call it Taiji or even Tai Chi, the proper name of this skill is called Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan). Taijiquan literally means "Yin/Yang fist" . Taiji is the Chinese Pinyin spelling but the pronunciation sounds like "tie-jee".
Chun Yuen Quan is a martial art skill that is also very good for health. The lineage was originally from the Northern Shaolin tradition but after time, it passed down to the Chinese opera where it actually retained its traditional elements. Michael Tse says, "In the beginning, some people may find the movements a little bit challenging as there are many up and down movements as well as lots of stretching postures to help open the chest and make the spine straight. But with all good skill, there are different levels of practising.
