Simon Ward
I am a 4th Degree (DAN) black belt with 20 years mainly Shotokan Karate experience, although I have trained under instructors in Okinawan-te, Gojo-ryu Karate, Karate-Jutsu, KUGB, JKA & various other styles.
My non Karate experience includes training in Aikido, Stav, Ju-jitsu, Kung Fu and Tai Chi Combat.
I am the chief instructor of Wards Karate-Do & the West Norfolk Karate Association.
All through my training I have always had an interest in the hand-to-hand combat side of things and enjoyed many years developing skills in Kobudo (Japanese Weaponry).
In my teenage years I developed an interest in competitions and soon found myself competing all over the country at national events, both in Kata and Kumite.

Experience
Wards Karate-Do & West Norfolk Karate Association
The latest development in my martial arts career. I now run and am the chief instructor for Wards Karate-Do and the West Norfolk Karate Association. WKD runs classes weekly around Downham Market and Kings Lynn, but also does contracted coaching in business and for local councils/schools. We provide courses for comapnies and individuals alike in self defence, control & restraint and breakaway techniques. We also provide outreach programmes to youth groups throughout the county doing workshops in Self Defence and Anti-bullying. We operate as an association to other smaller groups who like myself, wanted to to start to teach in their local community. Proving a syllabus and insurance to help get them going. WKD along with its backers now provide access to startup funding and resource for new clubs within the WKD group.
North Norfolk Karate Club
My own Karate club that offered small classes in rural communities of Norfolk. Bringing together years of training to now learn how to teach and train others. Student count 50+
Advanced Martial Arts Training
Training in various clubs, attending seminars, books, DVD's etc in various topics of advanced Karate, wepaons, freestyle karate, control & restraint, breakaway skills, advanced self defence, kickboxing, aikido, hand to hand combat, even the tree at the end of the garden helped in my further training.
Shotokan Karate Beginner to Black Belt
The foundation to many people's Karate training. Several years training to become a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate.
