Kirtan (Mantra / Nada / Bhakti Yoga / Sound Meditation) Weybridge
The Kirtan / Sound class is a sanskrit mantra call and response and sound vibration work, it's an effortless sing-a-long meditation which is uplifting, releasing and easy. The benefits are de-stressing, calming, helps release happy hormones, helps boosts self confidence and self esteem.
You don't need to be able to sing in tune or remember words but if you enjoy singing in the car or shower and love the feeling it gives you then this is for you...with bells on! It's more of a western style kirtan, meaning it's light hearted with offering of the what the sankrit means and then inviting you to find your own interpretation of that, so dont worry if you about it conflicting with any religion or faith as you can attribute it to your own beliefs or take it for what it is - soundwork that has strong physiological and psychological effects.
It will be on a Wednesday evening after the previous class at 8.00 for 1 hour
Please do enter the hall until the hall doors (with the yoga sign on) are open, please wait outside in the foyer incase the previous class has overan for any reason. Thank you.
Parking in Churchfield Road which is free after 6pm. Venue is above library and entrance is at the front, up the stairs, first floor and through door on the left
Yin / Yang Yoga - Wednesday - Weybridge
Yin/Yang Yoga - 95mins
STYLE: Class alternates weekly between Laya (Kundalini) Yoga and Yin Yoga
Enquire as to what class is running each week as it alternates and you may prefer one style or the other.
Alternates weekly between Laya / Kundalini Yoga and Yin Yoga - two ends of the yogic spectrum.
Kundalini is active / vigorous kriyas and breathing techniques sourced from Tantric texts, Sivananda / Bihar and the wonderful teacher Carolyn Cowan, to detox, tone and energise every system in the body.
Yin Yoga poses are held passively, in meditation for 5minutes working into deeper connective tissues. Students find its depth quite surprising.
More details on these styles can be found here http://www.vernyoga.com/styles
Please check there is space before attending and fill in the online health form if it's your first time in class.
Please bring your own mat if you have one, although they can be purchased from me, please let me know if you wish to buy one.
Also for the Yin class, please bring x2 blocks if you have them (can be bought from me), x2 bricks (as above), a bolster/ firm cushions, a hand towel can help on some postures and a blanket for relaxation. You may want to dress warmer for this practice as no heat is built up in the body.
