yvonne booth
I'm a Hatha Yoga Teacher, qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga and a member of the Independent Yoga Network. I have been practicing yoga of various traditions for over 20 years.
My classes are inspired by Vanda Scaravelli's fluid approach and by the subtle Kashmiri tradition. Here the emphasis is not on achieving 'fixed' postures but using them to undo tension, allowing moment by moment awareness to grow and the postures to evolve more naturally.
I run regular drop in classes in Leigh on Sea. All classes are small & friendly (max' 12 students). They take place in a centrally heated, carpeted hall with a lovely garden.
The classes are adapted to every ability, including beginners. They include Hatha Yoga postures, breathing techniques and a closing relaxation/meditation session. Nothing special is needed; just comfortable clothes and a yoga mat.
I also run private yoga lessons from my home studio by arrangement.

Look forward to meeting you

Yoga for men and women of all abilities
Drop in Yoga classes in Leigh on sea
Mon & Wed 6.15pm & Wed 7.30pm
Yvonne's yoga classes take place at the Friends meeting house, 18 Dundonald Drive, Leigh - on - sea, Essex (Just off Leigh Road).
All classes are kept small & friendly (maximum 12 students) and take place in a centrally heated, quiet and carpeted room.
The hall has a lovely secluded garden, which we sometimes use in the summer.
This approach
My teaching is influenced by my Hatha training with the British Wheel and by the Kashmir tradition and teachings of Scaravelli, both subtle approaches in which we avoid end gaining and really feel the postures from moment to moment, exploring the asanas effects.
Practicing the Yoga postures and breathing exercises in this way not only strengthens and tones the body, but improves the flow of energy - regulating the body and breath, and bringing stillness to the mind.
When the posture is really understood it becomes meditation. Here we no longer emphasize the the body but our awareness.
Everyone can practice this form of yoga, as it is completely suitable for beginners and those of real experience.

Experience
Yoga for men and women of all abilities
Yvonne is a Hatha Yoga Teacher, with over 20 years experience of yoga. She qualified in 2006 with the British Wheel of Yoga and a member of the Independent yoga network. She has also undertaken the MBSR course in Mindfulness and has a PGQ in Mindfulness, relaxation and meditation.
She began enjoying yoga at secondary school and has continued to develop her practice since, training with teachers in a wide variety of styles both in the UK and in India.
Her classes are inspired by her deep interest in mindfulness, the teachings of the Kashmiri tradition and of Vanda Scaravelli.
Her subtle approach avoids end gaining and gives space to the feel the postures from moment to moment as the asanas effects are explored. Practicing in this way the capacity for observation and awareness is allowed to increase naturally.
Yvonne is also a freelance book cover designer, having worked on over 1,000 educational, complementary and alternative health and ancient wisdom traditions titles. She plays the ukulele... well sort of!
