Speak With Confidence - interviews, debating, speaking up in class
My background is a mixture of acting and law, and it was through that combination that I started working with a varied mix of young people and corporate clients to help them improve their public speaking and presentation skills. Using a variety of activities related to debating, reading aloud, acting and playing games, I am confident I can help improve any student's success at speaking in public, or under pressure. We work on how to structure arguments, how to be being clear in the presentation of thoughts, and how to make sure you're heard.
Here's an example of some of the introductory exercises I might use:
- Breathing & Calming Exercises
(how to keep nerves under control, how to slow down and let yourself think about what you’re saying)
- Drama Exercises
(reading poetry, acting out scenes/speeches, drama based games)
- Conversation
(discussing and debating, general conversation, open ended-questions, getting used to talking on wide range of topics: no wrong answers, practical meeting & greeting practice)
- Speaking Games
telling stories, concentration games, creative word games
