Home Grown health
Birmingham City University invited me to be an exhibitor at one of its recent events. I had a really enjoyable evening. Orgainsed by BCU MA students who are taking a course in Events and Exhibition Management itwas good opportunity to meet other SOE tutors and would be students. I look forward to taking part in other similar events.

How You Can Live To 100 (Graphic)
Want to keep thinking up great ideas? Research has found that by controlling factors in your life, living to 100 is actually much more possible than previously thought. In total, the US has the most centenarians with current estimates as high as 72,000, leading website The Centenarian states. In fact, if the population of centenarians continues to increase at its current rate of expansion, there could be close to one million people of 100 years of age or more by 2050 residing in the US.

G20 announces academic currency
In an unexpected move, the G20 summit today proposed the introduction of a new currency based on academic qualifications.
Credit Crunch...is it affecting you too?
I've been teaching for 6 years now and getting busier every year...until October 2008.
As a knitting teacher, Sept-Dec is my busiest time of the year...classes book up up to six weeks in advance. But Oct 08 was like a ghost town for Knitting SOS. My years finances have averaged out pretty healthy due to a couple of big jobs last Spring, but I'm noticing that I can't fill classes as easily as I was 12 months ago.
Has anyone else found this and do they have any suggestions to inspire people to learn?

How to eat better
This is a digest (if you'll pardon the pun) of information on the gap between the typical modern Western diet and what our bodies are adapted for. There's certainly a big gap between what I eat and Ran Prieur's recommendations, but there's a lot of food for thought here.

US elections
Today I've been trying to get my head around how the US election tonight works.
Wikipedia is quite helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election
and I thought this slideshow was very good at explaining things:

Unlimited Resources
Every member of School of Everything can add notes, links, videos, images, documents and other things to the site that help people learn or teach a particular subject. If you're learning, you can use it to keep track of your progress in your subjects and all the things that help you learn like useful websites or how-to videos.
If you're teaching, you can share useful resources and advice that you think will help people learn you subjects. You can tag each resource post with one or more subjects, and your posts will appear to other people looking for those subjects.
Don't be shy, say hello. We'd love to hear from you.
