Beatmatching: Mixing for Beginners

Beatmatching is the skill of listening to two records, being able to identify which one is playing faster or slower and then changing the speed accordingly so the two records are playing at the same speed. It is the fundamental skill to DJ mixing.
Every aspect of DJing requires practice but learning to beatmatch is different in the sense that once you’ve got it you’ve got it…something just clicks.

EQUIPMENT
• If you have your own decks I can travel to you or you can travel to me, whichever you’d prefer.
• We can use either CDJs or vinyl turntables, it’s your choice.
• Feel free to bring your own music.
N.B. If you are using turntables it is essential that they are direct drive…belt drive turntables don’t keep a constant speed.
